Gressingham Duck - Dine In With Duck TVC
The brief
Gressingham Duck commissioned a premium regional TV advert to support their Dine In With Duck campaign, airing across the Anglia region. The objective focused on positioning duck as the centrepiece for a special night in, elevating it from an everyday ingredient to a considered, aspirational choice.
The brief placed a clear emphasis on food over faces. The film needed to feel elegant, intimate, and indulgent, while remaining accessible and achievable for a home audience.
My role
Producer and Director
I led the project end-to-end, taking full responsibility for creative development and delivery. My role covered concept creation, scriptwriting, storyboard planning, crew and specialist hiring, production logistics, on-set direction, post-production oversight, and broadcast delivery.
Creative development
I developed the creative concept around a romantic meal for two, a familiar but aspirational scenario that naturally places duck at the heart of the story. By keeping the focus tightly on food, texture, and ritual rather than character-led performance, the film allowed the product to carry the emotional weight of the narrative.
I wrote the script and storyboarded the film with a strong emphasis on pacing, visual rhythm, and sensory detail. The approach balanced cinematic craft with clarity, ensuring the dish remained hero throughout while supporting the wider brand message.
Production and direction
I sourced the location and assembled a specialist crew tailored to food-led storytelling, including an experienced food stylist and Director of Photography. Together, we developed recipes that looked premium on screen while remaining realistic for a home audience.
The shoot used an ARRI Alexa LF paired with DZO Arles lenses, allowing for rich textures, shallow depth, and a tactile, cinematic finish. On set, I directed closely around food presentation, timing, and continuity, ensuring each shot enhanced appetite appeal and brand tone.
Post-production and delivery
I oversaw post-production through edit, grade, and sound, protecting the visual elegance established on set. I managed Clearcast approval, coordinated voiceover recording, and delivered the final film to broadcast specification for regional transmission.
Outcome
The finished advert delivered an elegant, inviting, and distinctly food-first film that celebrated duck as the centrepiece of a special night in. Internal feedback was extremely positive, and the campaign performed strongly across the Anglia region. Gressingham Duck were highly satisfied with the result and the overall creative direction.
